Description

Butter Knife by Zeitner From Goering – Sonneman Wedding. This utensil was made by the famous Zeitner firm, and features a cast-in-place silver eagle holding the swastika. According to a listing at Mike Holverson’s “The Marshall’s Baton” this utensil could have been used at the wedding of Göring to Emmy Sonneman in 1935. This is the suspicion, based upon a wedding goblet he has pictured on his website. The goblet was purchased directly from Zeitner’s daughter, and features both the Göring and Sonneman coat of arms. The eagle on the goblet is identical to the eagle on this serving piece. This item was recently purchased from the estate of a deceased veteran in the Anaheim area and then eventually obtained by Original German Militaria. The images of the cup are provided courtesy of The Marshall’s Baton, and the cup is not part of this listing. 21cm/ 8 1/2 inches long. 830 silver content. (os)
