Description
Presentation German Army Dagger by C. Gustav Spitzer – Motorized Light Pioneers (Engineers). This is a really nice one with the patina matching on all the fittings. The crossguard is the type that Spitzer used. The blade is the plated variety with the acid-etched maker mark used by this producer. The blade is bright but there is minor pitting and graying throughout. The reverse crossguard has a presentation engraved, “Zur Erg. an die le. Pi. Kol (mot.) 89, 12.4.40”, indicating that it was a presentation from a motorized Army Engineer unit in April of 1940 – Zur Erinnerung an die leichte Pionier Kolonne (motorisiert) 90 – In remembrance of Light Pioneer Column (motorized) 12 April 1940. The scabbard is straight with no dents.
