Trimmed SS Officer’s W.B. Dachau Cuff Title “Dachau” – Used by Kapos at Dachau. Great looking trimmed portion of a hand-embroidered SS Officer’s W.B. Dachau Cuff Title being a cut-down example measuring 6.5cm/ 2 1/2 inches showing the “Dachau” lettering. The cuff title was introduced in September of 1935 for members on the staff of the Wirtschaftsbetriebe Dachau (Economic Enterprises Dachau- a unit based at Dachau) and discontinued in June of 1937. There are photos of the trimmed portion, see sample photo pulled from the internet of a Kapo – special prisoners put in charge of other prisoners, being worn on headgear with speculation that these are ex-prisoners photographed prior to leaving the camp or as in the case of the photo shown an actual Kapo wearing the trimmed piece. The untrimmed cuff title would have read “W.B. Dachau” and as more were produced than needed these were trimmed for the purpose described. The piece in the photo and the piece being offered are not the exact same piece. A full length cuff title is one that is only in the most advanced collections and this piece itself is a historic rarity. LH5327
